I can remember the day I spoke to Melanie, (the other Melanie at Melanie's office!) It was a Wednesday morning and it was my birthday![:0] I just knew I couldn't put it off any longer and I actually wanted to enjoy my birthday, not be sick with worry. Took all morning really but then hubby and I went to the beach and I started smiling again.[:)] X

Hi Skippy,
Great to know I'm not the only one with an absolutely useless memory - nice to know I'm not alone!! Have you reached the dreadful point where you go upstairs to get something and when you get there you can't remember what you wanted??? Tha drives me mad......

I can't even say I go upstairs as we haven't got any! I often get up and walk into the kitchen and have no idea what I went in there for! I'm only 33...

Slippery slope there Skippy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mind you, when I was in my 30's and used to do a lot of baking, I decided to make hubbie some Eccles cakes as he loved them.

Did everything, put them in the oven, fetched them out - then noticed the currants still in the dish on the scales!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's not touched them since!

Dave does most of the cooking in our house for reasons which will become apparent...

I decided to cook him dinner, and I completely misread the recipe and put in 4 teaspoons of cayenne pepper instead of 1/4 teaspoon. You should have seen the colour he went when he tried it!

Wish him luck, I'm cooking dinner tonight...

I remember, 19th September, 2006. My stepdaughters birthday, it was only two weeks since I had been paid and I wondered how I would cope with next weekend. I had about 300 pounds on my credit card so I nabbed 150 of it so we could eat, then I spent 33 quid on some perfume for my step daughter. The next day, I sat down and worked out and I and E boy was I scared. I found this forum a couple of weeks later, the rest is history.

Mrs Skint, you are an inspiration to many. I had a cancer scare a couple of weeks ago and the first thought was, Oh my God, my kids. I take my hat off to you.

I am afraid I remember the date of the first phone call because it was only 10 days ago! The day before that I believed I could still manage the 1,200 minimum payment per month (!!!). Then HSBC wrote me a letter and said they were taking away my overdraft too and that really was the straw that broke the camel's back and I knew I couldn't cope anymore. Waiting to make the first payment to Thomas Charles now and get the ball rolling. :)
