Hi,

My friend and I both started our IVA's in June 2005. Recently she has been living apart from her husband and they have decided to split up. Her IVA is in her name only as all their debt was in her name. ALthough they do include her husband's income.
In addition to their IVA they also have a secured loan so there is not much equity in the house.
What should she do I know the answer is to ask your IP but she is with Debt Free Direct and they are useless.

Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thank you

Hi Lulu

She really does need to discuss this with her IP, and in a big firm there ought to be a dedicated case manager to assist. She will need to produce a detailed income and expenditure statement detailing her current circumstances, which will show whether she can afford to continue her IVA payments or whether she needs to look at other options.
