Okay, so I have just cancelled my HSBC credit card DD (last one went out 6th April) Unfortunately my HSBC loan went out today so I can't stop that. Should I now cancel my MBNA (it's due out tomorrow or Monday) Would it look really bad that I've paid all the others (including Egg - no DD) in April and not them? I don't want them to feel aggrieved when it comes to my creditors meeting!

And MBNA phone all the time right? (I've never actually been late with them at all, so they've never phoned - I don't even know what mobile number they have, must be an old one - as long as it's not my parents home phone I don't mind) Ugh, don't think I can cope!

Hi Missy80

I would advise to cancel any further DD/SO to your creditors, as it is only the contractual payment and the fact that you have cancelled and further payments this will be fine when it comes to your MOC creditors

take care

Hi Missy80

Regarding MBNA. Prepare yourself to be bombarded with calls. The just don't give up. They will call every available number that they have for you.
My advice to you is to explain that you have asked a third party to act on your behalf and that you will not be entering into any conversations regarding your account but that you are more than happy to receive all correspondance in writing and then hang up.

They will try to get you to make a payment but just be firm and say that you have informed them of your situation and that they will be contacted shortly by the third party.

Also they have no problem informing your work colleagues that they are calling from MBNA which can be really embarrassing. Try and get them to remove your work number if they have it before you cancel your DD.

All sounds daunting but be strong and don't let them bully you.

All the best
Mim

What I sometimes recommend if people are getting bombarded at work, is to say that either they are trying to sell you insurance and won't take no for an answer. You could also just say you are having a bit of a dispute with them over a payment.

All the best, hopefully it won't be long until you can answer the calls with IVA approved! x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Thanks everybody. It sounds like it's going to be awful but it can't last forever I guess! I cancelled my direct debit last night so I guess the phone calls will start by Monday.

Thankfully I've changed jobs about 100 times since I took the card out so that's okay, they won't have the number. I think I'll go online and see what numbers they actually have. HSBC are my worst ones for phone calls - 8am to 8pm, including Sundays. Everyone on here makes me feel positive though, so thank you for your advice.

Just went online to check but they won't let me log on without the last 6 digits of the phone number I used to register. I tried the landline and they say it's not that (good!) and I can't remember what my mobile number was when I registered. Really unsure as to how they'll track me down but I bet they will!

Hi Missy80,

The good thing is about them ringing all the time is that you get to recognise the number therefore giving you the option of not answering it. We have a phone manager system in work so when I recognised the number I would just pick up the phone and put it straight down.
Another good thing to to is if you get a number that you don't recognise you can google it and it will usually direct you to a page that will tell you who it is.

Good luck x
Mim
