Have started a seperate thread so McCambridge Duffy get the recognition they deserve. They have been friendly and professional throughout the last 10 months.

They have managed to obtain the f&f agreement with me paying over only a third of my lump sum so I can use the rest to make life more comfortable in the future.

Have also discussed the vat issue with them this morning and they are now beginning to look at cases to see if a claim for the vat is worth it financially against staff costs to process etc so anyone hanging on should hear in the next 6 - 8 weeks as to the position on their IVA closure.

Anyone who wants to discuss IVA's and other debt solutions could do an awful lot worse than this company.

Delighted for you Kazza and thanks for your kind words. It is great you will stay around and pass on your experience to others. IVAs, creditors and IPs all get bad press but cases like yours show that there is a way forward, IVAs have their place and benefits, and creditors will accept fair offers and not nail you to the floor.
Rosepetal. I have always enjoyed posting but went through a stage of not having any time at all to commit. Also with new experts such as Kazzafunk in addition to the existing experts dealing with Forum queries as professionally as they do, the Forum is in very safe hands with little need for me!

F&F is a full and final offer. If you can raise a lump sum, normally equivalent to what you would pay across over the term of your IVA, then you can make an offer to your creditors. If it accepted then your IVA completes.

Usually it is money from a relative that funds it and you have to make sure that the creditors know that the money is available for that purpose only.

I have to disagree with you, Michael. There's always a need to good sense and reason on the board (apert from which it balances out my drivel [:o)] )
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

It is nice to see you back on here Michael - we are only experts in our experiences, it's always useful to have IP staff on hand to put us right or expand where necessary.

It's understandable that when you are busy you cannot come to the forum - but we miss you!!

I think the professionals and us as posters make a good mix, it is always nice to have a professional to refer a poster to for solid advice. Having said that I fully appreciate how busy all of us are and IP's and staff are doing a great job posting when they can and giving 100% advice, we're all part of a team which work well together. x

I couldn't agree more Lesley. This is a wonderful forum and all advice from both experts and professionals is invaluable in my opinion. I really really wish I had found this forum at the start of my IVA instead of a few months from the end..... I am sure it would have helped me through the difficult times when going through the process and dealing with creditors. Having said that, DFD were absolutely brilliant with us and it is thanks to them that we have been given a fresh start.
