Just sat here thinking, and i wondered how many of the members on this forum, had they known about it pre-IVA would have actually contacted Melanie's company to do their IVA, i know i would!!![:)]

Goverment stats say that 30% of households can't meet their monthly committments.

Just look down your street, at work colleagues, friends & family. I am sure that some of these folk are struggling but haven't shared the burden yet. If you have been in the dark debt hole ou know the symptons and can recognise them.

Refer a freind to an expert you trust - it will really hep your friend and I am sure the expert would be only too pleased to help someone else - especially from a personal recommendation.

Paul that is so true. No one knows I am in an iva - apart from everyone on the forum[;)] Not that I am ashamed but it was more if either of my parents had found out my toubles they would have stepped in and paid the whole lot off, they are both in their 60's so I would no/could not burden them with that financial burden.
I am sure if you asked anyone who knows me none would know I have financial trouble, I have since found my friend was having difficulties after she confessed one day. We looked at things together and with careful budgeting she will be fine in the future, carrying on the way she had for much longer would have needed a professional solution.
People don't really talk about financial matters until they are in trouble and need help[:(]

On the suject of Melanie, I found her just in time and would never hesitate to recommend to others - the service I have recieved has been faultless[:)]

I would have gone to Melanie if I'd known about her when I went into my IVA.

I've been open about my IVA and BR - obviously I'm not proud of what's happened, but hopefully by being like this I might be able to help someone else. It also means I can be honest about the reason I can't go out or buy new clothes as often as my friends.

I have been able to explain my new found frugal living as I lost my part time job and that was the only thing keeping my head above water.
So not difficult to explain away to everyone I know why I have less money now, I would always recommend confiding in family/partner/friends as it helps to talk, but my situation is a bit more complicated with ill health in the family and I don't want to worry anyone.
Lucky I have all my forum friends[:)]

I am never ashamed of my debt problem as I can hand on heart say that it came about as a matter of life consequences and almost a utilitarian manner ... the greatest good for the greatest amount of people ... i.e putting my young family before myself ... if only I had any exotic holidays or expensive goods to show for it!!

I do like to feel that in being open about things it enables others to share with me about their own situation if they need to ... and I am always a great advocate of the Forum and recommend it if ever the occassion needs.

At the end of the day there is nothing really special about me or my brilliant team - we are just honest, hardworking chaps who enjoy helping people out and have an ethos of direct personal contact with our clients.

Personally I can't imagine running a professional practice in any other way!

I was very lucky as I found Melanie & her team just in time she represented herself so well on this forum that she sold herself to me. I must admit there are some other experts here as well that are very helpful as well.
I am so glad to have embarked on the IVA route .it is early days but weeks seem to be flying by.

Apart from hubby , kids, best friend & Dr I have not told anyone about my debt as I am far too ashamed as the way it came about & I have nothing at all to show for it.
