Having been accepted for an IVA today I plugged the phone back in on my other line (not posh - just use Broadband talk with a different number to get rid of the creditors.)

Mercers phoned and it is the first time I actually spoke to them. I think I shocked them first of all because someone had actually answered the phone!

They started off by telling me how much I owed, I immediately stopped them by telling them my IVA had been approved today. Big pause as they couldn't cope with that one!

After having details about the company I was dealing with, which I was more than happy to share with them, they then went on to mention how much I owed in back payments!

At this point I stopped her and said "What part of IVA don't you understand? I will not be making payments to you. You now cannot contact me by law, and if you do it will be harrasment."

I have to say that it gave me enormous pleasure to do this. They are such bullies and it was nice to put them on the back foot.

I do hope they call again.

I must say Kallis it is alot easier after your IVA has been approved, it gives you a great deal of confidence on the phone.
Good luck for the future.

I loved every minute of it. Just waiting for the next call from whoever. It's amazing what confidence those words 'your IVA has been accepted' can do.

I hope we are in the same boat soon. We have just sent letters to our creditors telling them that we are looking into an IVA. I am assuming they will receive them today or tomorrow so then the calls and letters will start - dreading it.

I am pleased though that you got a chance to put them straight. Everybody seems to have had problems with Mercers - well done. xx

Hi Moneystinks,

The letters will still continue for a while. I take it the letters are the ones your IP told you to send?

With the letters I just wrote back to them informing them (once again) of the impending IVA. The phone calls I ignored. Once you have the date of your meeting you can start thinking positive thoughts, and the calls etc wont be lasting much longer

I hope they don't - but it is a great feeling isn't it.

I haven't had a call from Mercers now for over a month. We had a call from Blair Oliver Scott (or something like that), who bought our Halifax loan, but they were quite pleasant and we just explained the situation to them.

It is nice being able to answer the phone without worrying about who is on the other end! Our junk mail has dwindled to virtually nothing as well.

The earliest I ever had calls was 8 am. Never any earlier. Get very little post as well now - it's great!

Hi Kallis3 congratulations in your IVA being accepted on Monday. Mine was accepted on that day too!! We will have to count down together. Five minutes after the end of my creditors meeting Goldfish rang me, explained everything to them very confidently like you, great feeling![:D] Since then I must have had about 6 calls from them (one while i am trying to type this)!!!! Not going to let it bother me in the slightest, I get a weird kind of satisfaction in telling them my IVA got accepted and they can't do anything to me because it is the law!!!!!

Hi nomoredosh. Actually, mine was accepted on 21st April, so I am a few payments ahead of you!

It is a great feeling though, and at least we will be finished in 2013 (sounds a long time doesn't it?)
