Hi All,

I know it takes time for the whole process to filter through, but Mercers, who are acting for Barclaycard, are the only ones still calling and sending letters. We've also had a statement from Barclaycard. My point is, despite our IVA being approved on the 3rd September, and Mercers have it on their system that we have been approved (they have told me this, but they reckon that they haven't had any official communication), they are still phoning and have now sent a letter stating that they have no choice but to pass the debt on to a local debt collector who may call at home to obtain payment. Although this doesn't bother me too much as I know that we are protected by the IVA, my wife is now absolutely terrified that a debt collector is going to call. I know this is quite common and a lot of you have been through it, but why are these people the only ones not to get the message?
Carl.

Hi Carl

Unfortunately this does happen sometimes. Your best bet is to ask your Supervisor to FAX a copy of the Chairman's report directly to Mercers. That should sort it for you.

Just noticed, I am now an IVA Campaigner!! Can't get through to Mercers to speak to them about this letter as their system is down. Thanks for the advice Sarah, I was planning on getting in touch with my IP anyway, but I need to speak to them to make sure that this is just a stanadard letter that their system has thrown out.

As Melanie says, as your I.P. is now aware of the situation they will sort this out and Mercers will stop hassling you.
As you rightly said, you are protected by your IVA and this fact will be reconfirmed to Mercers.

I had LTSB phoning/threatening me 4 months into my IVA and one call to my I.P. sorted this out, I even got a written apology from LSTB, (which I've framed BTW as this must be a one off, an apology from a creditor...whatever next)[;)]

An IVA or other is a hard and worrying time and you don't need extra stress caused by inaccurate communications by creditors.

One phone call by your I.P. will sort that out...I promise

Mercers were a pain with me as well, I always ignored their calls until the day my IVA was approved. Then I answered, informed them that I had just been accepted, and I have never had another phone call since from them.

I am so glad that someone has started this thread as i am furious! I went into work today to be told that barclaycard have been ringing up for me & have left msags for me to ring them back.I was mortified & rang them immediately to remind them that id asked for my works no to be removed from my file 3 mnths ago & also that i have had my iva for 2 mnths now.I have informed my i.p office but am so annoyed! I do not want to go back to spending my days off worrying about creditors ringing my works.

I woudnt be so bothered if they had been trying to get hold of me on my mobile, but i haven't had 1 missed call on it & it looks a bit obvious when a bank is constantly chasing you at work.I did the iva because i wanted to keep my financial affairs private.Im just so upset as it was totally unexpected & i had to then start making up a tale that the reason they keep ringing me is to offer me a loan.I have been on pins all day.If you ask them not to contact you on a particular no then they should respect that.

I was so glad that my creditors never had my work number, that would have driven me demented! Barclays and Mercers rang my mobile a few times during the day but that soon all stopped after the IVA was in place for about a month. I got a few letters from them too for about a month after the IVA was finalized.

They never had my work number either. I work in a small office, and you can hear all phone calls, so it would have been embarrasing. I made sure that I put their details in my mobile so I knew who was calling. I changed my ringtone to the same as my text tone and just left it until they rang off.

I know this is too late for you but just before I applied for an IVA I went online and updated my contact details, I left my home number the same, but I was naughty and changed my work number to a local takeaway[:0]........I know I shouldn't have but one of my creditors kept ringing work during the day but I don't start work til 4pm, people kept asking who it was and some things should stay private. Barclaycard have displayed the best behaviour to my financial situation, they just sent me a letter saying they knew I was applying for an IVA....stated the amount they would be claiming and just for me to return my credit card cut up.
I have 6days to my creditors meeting and I am somewhat anxious but in a way I will be glad to find out where I stand

I will let you all know the outcome, you are are a good informative bunch.
cheers

The poor people at the takeaway!!!!!!

I'll bet your creditors had a shock when they rang the number as well.

Good luck for your meeting.

It's ok don't feel sorry for the people at the take away, about 8weeks ago they pushed 33 menues into my post box. When I opened the box most of them fell on the floor and it was teaming down with rain.
Maybe its true when people say whats goes around comes around[;)]
