We've dug out the old breadmaker which had been gathering dust in a cupboard.

50p a loaf and it is lovely bread - Hovis white bread flour as well!

Life costs too much when in financial trouble, my suggestion is to buy a couple of veggy grow bags and sow lettuce seed or spicy oriental leaves. Much cheaper than the slimy supermarket bags of salad and you can pick it fresh when you want it. The kids will enjoy planting and reaping as well.

Hi,
I know what you mean John. I've got three grow bags in the living room growing lettuce, radish, peas and runner beans. I live on the 8th floor so it's a bit windy outside for the plants on the balconey, hence they are in the living room. I'm trying everything I can to save money!!
Cheers,
Chardonnay

Instead of going to the supermarket this weekend, we went down the market and bought all our veg and to the butchers for meat and a couple of things from Iceland - pop, crisps, biscuits etc. Shopping bill came in at a fraction of the cost than going to the supermarket - I always end up picking extra stuff up!!

I done this weeks shopping at Netto and Farmfoods, got all our staples for around half of our normal shop. Asda is just to tempting....it's all the odds'n'ends ya put in the trolley that flings you over your budget.
It's nice to be back......
