Hi all, I am due to make my 3rd payment into my IVA next week which is £277 per month, however this week I have had to pay out £200 to get my car fixed as it had a water leak. I have not got money put aside as yet as contigency fund as I have only just started a new job and have a "regular" income. My question is can I not make a payment this month into my IVA. I had the £277 put aside to pay my IVA however with the car costing much more than expected I had to take the £200 out of the money put aside. I don't want to default on my IVA so early but I am struggling to find the money this month to pay it. Can anyone help so I can have a good night sleep this evening rather than worrying about this. Thanks xx

Speak to your IP, I am sure that they will let you take a month's break and make it up over the coming months. X

I had to miss a payment 3 months into my IVA for car repairs similar payment to yours, Payplan just added to the term of the IVA and increased payments by about £3 a month, hope this helps you get some sleep, take care x

Hi - like Viki advises, speak to your IP. We had to do the same a while back and just sent in receipt of repair to our IP as proof of costs. We paid our monthly payment minus cost of repair that month. We pay a little extra each month now so hopefully by the time our next review is due we'll be upto date with payments.

On saying that, hubby's car has to have repairs this week - £4oo and thats on top of £400 we had to pay for shower last week! [:(]So, we've been back in touch with IP again. Our monthly payments are £849 so we'll end up being a month behind.

In our expreince the IP has been understanding with the cars as they are necessities and not luxuries for us.

Try not to worry [;)]

I am sure that your IP will allow you to miss a payment, and you can then use your car maintenance contingency to make up the arrears over the next few months.
