I have sent an enquiry today. I would like to do collections from willing contributors of blankets and dog food even toys and I am typing a letter to arrange drop off points at agreed places eg.supermarkets, post offices, churches, local business etc and I can collect and get them to the Dogs Trust - not sure how but this is a technicality I'm just waiting for an email back from them about it. It saddens me that this time of year is even more sad for some fury friends, older dogs especially, having 3 Labradors myself ages 5, 9 and 12 I have always wanted to do something to help but I was worried about doing this whilst in the IVA which is now finished. Just wanted to share this really I'm starting off on something so new but I'm sure I can make something of this I just know it.

Our local supermarkets already do something like this and they have collection boxes in stores.

I'm sure people will contribute.

Harry's vets collect cat and dog food for their 'Give a Stray a Christmas Dinner Appeal' so we always take something for them.

thanks I know there are small donation boxes in our local co-op now and then I want to make this more pro-active and actually be there at times and turn it into something bigger eventually e.g. winter blankets mainly old or new then food etc. I wish I'd had a reply from the Dogs Trust because I'd start ringing round Managers of stores banks colleges etc. now. Told you I needed something to worry about! I have a new mission great

If Dogs Trust don't get back to you what about helping a small local charity? Harry came from a local place charity and we've donated food to them in the past x

I'm getting excited got my first day arranged at the local co-op for next Thursday 10 Nov to hopefully get food donations for the Dogs Trust. I have my letter of authority from them and leaflets and car stickers, just need some posters now. I'm nervous, what if I only get 1 tin of dog food? I've a vision of buying it all myself in the end!! It's a feeling of it's something I have always wanted to do but in current economic times am I barking up the wrong tree? mmmm... I'm now off to try and get a stand/space agreed at Tesco. I have also emailed the football club, college, local radio to get a campaign going (although I feel the radio will say no because they never do anything for pets but we'll see)???? Hugs

It's a wonderful thing you're doing and I don't think you'll end up with one tin but I can imagine your apprehension. Do let us know how it goes.
