I realise that a similar post has been made, but this is slightly different.

I have a pay as you go phone, but am finding that its getting expensive. If I found a good deal with a contract phone would I be able/allowed to do this?

How you spend your allowances is down to you and your IP should have no objection. If you cannot get a mobile contract in your own name you could use a friend or family member's and you just pay the bill.

Totally agree that you can spend your allowances as you wish.

You are unlikely to be able to get a contract in your own name.

Hopefully one of your family members, or a friend, will be able to help you out.

My husband got a contract with Virgin - £20 a month and he has unlimited texts and 200 mins. He was previously on PAYG....we did it on line and were accepted straight away

I have a contract with t-mobile x have a phone for me and for my son and a t-mobile web and walk stick! They have imposed a credit limit of £130 which suits me and it shows on my CF so hopefully I am making a little imprint into regaining a better credit file. 3 more weeks to go and I am free from IVA !!!

Certainly am !! I pay weekly so I have three more payments to make of £45.00 then I'm free as you all probably remember didn't have to do equity release as not much to release and and complied with all request so there letting me free at 60 months with no extension xxxx no great plans to do much except continue with the steady and planed way I hve adopted with money. Am a bit scared an feel safe in IVA I have found it brilliant and my IP has been really good to deal with. So have arranged flowers for her on 25th May 2010 she has been very helpful. Will most probably think about lots of things and dip my toe in and then quickly take it out!! My son has just turned 16 my parents took out a policy for him which matured when he was 16 he has just picked up his branded new moped 2010 plate black its call a Peugeot Blaster RS 10.... made me laugh he has had to fill it up twice £10 pounds!!! he has found a job from July 2010 at McDonalds (part time) while he takes his A levels at 6th Form. He seems to be very sensible about money and I'm glad about that. He does not seem to have suffered the IVA (he knows nothing about it)and actually has made him more ground and repectful of me when I gently advise him the cost of things and to shop around and use websites to find good deals. He is lucky that he has also my dads car on the drive (51 plate Corsa) which they have given to him.... as my dad has had to give up driving so he is pretty set up when he is 17 !! God I have rambled on !! any way catch up soon xxx K[:I]

You haven't rambled Kabby, its nice to read your post [:)]

Good luck to your son with his A levels and fair play to him getting a job. Does that mean you'll have free burgers from Maccy D's [:D]
