I work for T-Mobile and they do sim only contracts for people with poor credit, they just restrict some services like premium rate calls, international/roaming calls and they will only allow you a small amount of outside of allowance usage to prevent you running up a high unexpected bill.

Hope this helps

That's one thing I would never use my mobile for - premium rate calls!

Same here Jan! I think it's disgusting that the mobile companies charge for 0800 numbers as well.

O2 don't as far as I know - there is certainly a list on their website of 0800 numbers you can ring for free.

As far as I know Vodafone still do, although they did point out that they don't charge for 999 calls, which I thought was big of them!
