Hi, a mobile phone query. If you have an existing contract which is ending in June, will the mobile phone company do another credit check if you want to upgrade (get a new phone). I contacted them today and without giving any IVA details they said they would as an existing loyal customer. As I have been with the company for 3 years, will they do another credit check or just offer a new phone and contract? Has anyone had experiences with this in that you were solvent when originally starting the contract? Is it worth a go, will T-Mobile base their decision on loyalty alone? Thanks.

Hi
I think you will be fine as long as you stay with existing supplier, I don't think they will do a further credit check other than to confirm that you still live at your address
Good luck

I have been with orange all through my iva, and always renewed my contract before it ended. I would do it via Carphone Warehouse and claim a free gift. Such as this brand new laptop.
Last time I had a large flat screen as a free gift.
It makes sense when money is short.

I am with T Mobile, I have just got an upgrade and all they did was ask me a few financial questions e.g have you ever had a loan and with who, (he actually asked have you ever had a loan with Lloyds LOL)I was not asked amounts of loans etc. It was mainly for an identity check that you are who you say you are.
T Mobile are IVA friendly I started my contract with them after I was in my IVA.

I upgraded twice in the IVA with same carrier and also took a contract out on daughter's behalf with t-mobile, so should be fine as other say.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Orange didn't with me. I have been out of the IVA for 2 years now, although will be still on my credit record for 3 more years and have just arranged car and house insurance with new insurers and they have both approved monthly payments. Always scared to try but it shows it doesn't scare everybody off.

Hi I'm into my 5th year and have always renewed with my original provider 02 with no credit checks. However I have also managed to take out a pay monthly sim only deal with tesco last year (for my son) and more recently took out a 24 month proper contract out with EE (for my oldest child). I was to scared to try the EE contact face to face so I applied on line via carphone wearhouse it was accepted and phone deliverd the next day. I only tried EE as I had read on here that they seamed iva friendly and now he's on a contract it's saving me money each month with the free minutes/text/data etc compared to pay as you go or sim only deals.
