Hi all,

I have just completed a 5 year IVA but awaiting my completion certificate. Once I have received this I will be looking for a new mobile phone (I am too embarrassed to even get my current one out of my handbag when there are people I know around [^])

Does anyone on here know of any Companies which will do mobile phone contracts with credit rating shattered to bits? If I am able to get a contract hopefully this will start to improve my credit rating.

If you go into one of the big Orange/Vodafone etc shops, they rarely do a credit search as they are too worried about getting their sales bonuses!!
Otherwise known as "Tom". [:)] IVA proposal currently being drafted by Liberta Financial.

All mobile phone shops will credit check you I am afraid. Give it a year for the IVA to drop off your credit file and you stand a better chance.

You could always try the company you have your phone with just now,if you have a payment history with them maybe they will be happy to give you a contract.

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

You might be ok with T Mobile as my friend got a contract with them even though her BR was still showing on her credit file.

Thanks for your quick replies. I might try T mobile if they say no then they say no. It will not be a great loss. I'll then stick with pay as you go and treat myself to a new mobile with my first IVA free pay next month. That's if I have my certificate of completion before then. Will let you all know how I get on with T mobile first though.

Thanks again x

We managed to get my husband a new contract with 3 two months ago and we have just finished the IVA - it still shows up - apprently they check to see if you are on electoral role - they also said they have the option to override in some cirucmstances - it is worth it !

I tried vodafone after my IVA was complete and got a no on a sim only 30 day cancellation contract. I thought they may ask for a deposit but just got an out and out no. Personally I'd wait to save the embarrassment in store or do it online.

Vodaphone aren't known for being IVA friendly - I think O2 are a no-no as well unless you are already on a contract with them when there is no problem renewing.

I think Vodafone are only ok if you are already with them. I've been with them for years and haven't had any problems - I upgraded when I was in my IVA and also when I was BR.

If you are nervous about being embarrassed by failing a credit check in store then you can always apply for a contract phone online. If you are rejected you would be informed by post, similar to a credit card or loan! No embarrassment necessary :-D

Thanks all. If I applied today online would that be a breach of my IVA because I haven't received my completion certificate yet ?? I really don't want any credit searches showing up just in case x

You can try and apply online, if you get refused it will show up on your record.
