Hi All

How do you go on with a mobile phone, I have tried to get a new one as my current one is a loan and may be going back soon. I am unable to get a pay monthly contract and am not a fan of the pay as you go things.

Do you know of any companies who support IVA clients.

Perhaps if you are with a company already you might be able to get one, for example are you a virgin media customer?

If not how about a family or friend getting one for you, im sure there are companies who do mobiles but im guessing the monthly rates and a poor choice of phones would be off-putting?

A good idea for a family member to get one for you and you give them the monthly payment.

Otherwise, unless you can get something with Virgin then you may well be struggling.

Although I haven't yet signed up to IVA I realise this may be different but...

two months ago I changed from a PAYG mobile with T Mobile to a two year contract with them. I have been with TM for the last 11 years but I don't think this would have been a problem with them anyway even if I'd only been ther two months.

You're fine once you are in a contract, and should have no problem when it comes to renewal. I'm with O2 and have successfully renewed since being in the IVA.

It's trying to take out an initial contract that can be a problem.

Hi All

Well, Virgin said no,and not only this but said they would get back to me within the hour yesterday and I had to ring today to be told it was failed at credit check. We are virgin TV customers too.Carphone warehouse and orange and also declined orange for sim only too.

I am worried about this as now I am FT carer for my father who has terminal cancer, the phone I currently use is a loan form the local high school where I am chair of governors and they are cancelleing the contract soon. This will leave me with no mobile and as you can imagine when not caring I need to be able to be contacted if anything arises.

It sucks[xx(]

Hi All

Having chased around and been rejected from a number of providere I got accepted by T Mobile for a monthly contract for a Blackberry and it is been delivered tomorrow.

Amazing how you find that what you expect to be allowed is not and vis versa.

IVAs do make things a little more harder to get things do they not.

There's just no consistency with these firms is there?

Glad you managed to get sorted.

only thing I could suggest is to get a cheap secondhand one off ebay and go get a free sim from asda or somewhere like that for PAYG. i know you want contract but this may be the way togo.
