my IVA was approved in august. They are good, I ring constantly fretting about things and they always listen and calm me down. They got things moving quickly at the beginning. My only negative point would be, I have never spoken to my Ip. In all fairness there has never been a problem that has led me to need to speak to him, the guy I deal with is great. I have even cried on him and he coped very well.
Don't forget that www.iva.com has reviews of companies written by their clients which is always helpful to read when making a decision who to go with.[:)]

If you were suffering from a mystery illness, and worried about the type of medicine to take to cure it, would you want to speak to the doctor or the receptionist?
Trust me - at some stage during an IVA you will need to speak to your IP, and I stongly recommend that you do so at the outset as you are placing your hands in this person's care for the next five years. There are far too many posts on this forum from people who cannot contact the organ grinder when they need the organ grinder's decision.
You should certainly have spoken to your IP at least once before an IVA proposal is finalised.
IF I HAV ONLY SPOKEN O THEM ON THE TELEPHONE COULD I BACK OUT IF I DECIDE THAT I WANT TO GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE? COULD I CONTACT YOU AND YOUR TEAM? ANDHOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE TO GET THINGS IN PLACE?
It is not too late for you to change companies - if you wish to contact Melanie, then you are able to do so.
It normally takes up to 8 weeks, but sometimes can take longer.

An IVA can be put together in 24 hours if necessary, and providing all of your paperwork is complete, but realistically the process is likely to take somewhat longer.
If you are comfortable with the advice you have received so far, there is no reason to change tack, however it might be advisable to talk to another couple of companies just to compare and possibly provide you with further information.
Why not have a look at my blog at the section "Choosing an Advisor" for further hints and tips about what to ask your IP and their staff.
You should also see reviews on other practitioners by visiting www.iva.com. In the end an IP is only as good as his staff and backroom boys/girls who process all the paperwork. Yes it would be nice if you could talk to your own proposed IP so that you have a feeling of empathy between you. It is never too late to change your mind and if you have all the information available a new proposal can be turned around within 24 hours, my firm has done that on occasion. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
