I have just received a letter from Moorcroft debt recvoery acting on behalf of my homebase card. It says pay up in 7 days or else basically. My creditors meeting is set for 31st March. I was just wondering if anybody knows if Moorcrfot have the power to do anything in the meantime eg,send baillifs round?
Also will it be moorcroft voting or homebase??

Martha07, Moorcroft would have to obtain a court order to send the bailiffs around which would take longer thatn a couple of weeks. Don't worry, you should have it sorted soon anyhow,
xx
It's nice to be back......

I had an argos card also and recieved so many threats from Moorcroft, they never turned up, never answered a letter, nothing. They just try to scare you into paying something.

Hi Martha, try not to worry. Alot of the time its just scare tactics that they use, to frighten you into paying. Let your IP know, and see what he advises.

My friend had to deal with moorcrofts when her mum died, they were acting on behalf of united utilities and were trying to recover a debt of £83. My friend phoned to inform them that her mum was deceased and that there was no estate to pay this debt. They said they couldn't discuss it with her, they could only speak to the person named on the letters. She kept telling them she had passed away and still they said the debt had to be paid, my friend sent a copy of the death certificate and a covering letter. Eventually they sent a letter saying if the debt wasn't paid within 7days they would refer it to the courts and that her mum would have to attend!!! My friend phoned them again and asked how they can take a dead person to court, and once again they said they couldn't discuss her mums debt with her...........she flipped and told them they were stupid and that the courts would laugh them out the court......she insisted they weren't stupid so my friend politely wished them best at luck getting her mum to court and that if her mum was going to attend could they give her a ring to let her know as she would really like to see her mum again. No further contact was received after this, seems to me they will try anything to recover debt but my friends story really highlights how unreasonable they are, don't be pressurized or stressed by them as it seems they use scare tactics as standard, if your in the process of sorting your finances just file it....don't even bother to give them the courtesy of a phonecall

Hi Moorcroft have to be the worst debt collection agency ever! Alot of my original debts went to Moorcroft . They have no telephone manner and are rude and disrespectful. Yes we do owe money to them but do they have to talk to us like we are stupid and a nobody. They threatened me with bailiffs coming to remove my belongings , which scared me quite a bit . After them sending 4 cards telling me a bailiff was coming , what a surprise no one turned up. I still had some trouble from them just after my iva was approved (jan 08) they would not accept even after receiving paperwork from my ip that i had an iva in place. Luckily now i have not heard a peep out of them for about 5 weeks . Dont worry yourself about them ,im glad i havent got to have anything to do with them ever again.

I had Moorcrofts speaking to me like a piece of sh*t, telling me that I would go to prison for default of debt after the Bailiffs had been and taken all my posessions, unless I paid up, in full, within 7 days. I told them they were 100 years out of date and the woman on the end of the phone asked what I was on about! Suprise, suprise, after a stupid card, no-one came.

My experience of them is that they are unreasonable, rude, demanding agressive liars, who have no common sense and even less integrity.

The 31st is only a 1.5 weeks away. Refer them straight to your IP and don't give them another thought.

How unprofessional of this company to threaten you with such nonsense. It amazes me that some of the banks would want to be associated with such companies.

Hi
Ask them to repeat the threats, giving their name first, whilst you record it.I'm sure that they will decline the offer, then ask them why they won't let you record it ?
Regardless
