Thanks Melanie. It is really hard at the moment. It's not the first time we have lost a dog, but we had had her the longest and she just seemed to go on forever.

I hope your dog goes on for a good few years yet.

Oh Kallis, its the worst thing ever, isnt it! When it happened to my Max, I felt that my heart had been ripped out. Dogs are such great and faithful companions and I am really thinking about you at this moment. Take care.

Jan I'm so sorry to hear about Bella. It's awful to lose a pet as they are part of the family - I can remember how hard it was when my mum's dog went a couple of years ago. I wasn't even living at home then, but she was 18 and I'd grown up with her - they are such a big, important part of our lives.

Cry as much as you need to, and give Lloyd lots of cuddles as well xxx

Thanks.

I keep looking round to see where she is, I'm eating some choccie biscuits at the moment and I keep expecting her head to appear resting on the table (she was a big dog) waiting for a titbit.

Thanks barb. It was strange waking up and not to feel her head under my hand for a bit of fuss. I'll get used to it I suppose.

Don't know what we going to do with Casey.. steroids aren't working and her feet are in a right mess.. even pulled her sock off through night.. must be driving her around the bend. Don't really want to put a lampshade on her head as she is miserable enough.. wish it was tomorrow!!
Ang.. 13 payments in.. WOW, thats over 20% paid!! http://angela18.blogs.iva.co.uk/ well here we go

Ang, I really feel for you. We were offered steroids but I doubt they would have worked and I wouldn't put her through anymore pain. I don't feel too bad this morning, didn't sleep too well though.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow and praying the vet can sort Casey out. It's awful when you can't make things better for them.

I have everything crossed and sending you positive vibes and a big hug for Casey.

Thanks Jan.. she's always had chewed paws and itchy skin but the steroids always seemed to control it.. they gave us cream but she licks it off and now she's pulling the socks off even with micropore on!! She seems so unhappy most of the time so i really don't want her to feel worse with the cone on her head!! Oooh our pets are worse than kids..

They are Ang. With kids, you can explain what's wrong, pets you can't and that's what makes it harder.

you're so right jan.. fingers crossed for tomorrow.. sometimes I feel selfish and think to just let her go.. but then she'll have a good day and be naughty and have a tiny spurt in her step (not much mind)[:)]

It's very hard to know what to do for the best Ang.

Pets - can't live with 'em sometimes, but wouldn't be without them.

Oh Kallis, just read your post. That is so sad. Bella must have had a wonderful life with you, and was very much a family member as is my dog with us. I can't imagine how I will be when inevitably, 'that' day will come.

Big hug sent to you hun.

Sleep peacefully little darling - mmwwaahh.

I hope she did have a wonderful life Kazzy. She lived on borrowed time sometimes (rescue dog - 1st night we had her she ate a joint of lamb!!!!!!!!!!), but we persevered and she was one of the family and is sadly missed.

Our other little dog is still looking lost today as she has been there since day 1 for him.

Aw bless, she did Kallis, because you rescued her and thank god there are people like you in the world. I just don't know how people can mistreat animals and leave them starving. There was a rescue dog on our local news this week, who was immaciated and left for dead, but you should see him now. So, well done Kallis, you gave her life and she will be forever thankful to you for that. Your other little dog will pine for a few days and will soon come round. He is missing her right now and needs lots of love and attention from you which I am sure he is getting. He will love another little companion when you are feeling better.

Kallis, you are a star.
