I have been debt free since February of this year and ive also just sold my house last week. I went onto my credit score and although the house is sold, it's still showing I have an open mortgage account with a £68K debt. When I called the lender last week, to inform them not to send anymore post to my old address, they asked me if I wanted to make a payment and were surprised I had sold my home.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal and how long do I have to wait until my account should have been long closed?
I have had no letter or text to say that the mortgage has been settled.
This is the only big debt still stuck on my credit file. :x :x

The solicitor will be dealing with this and will produce an account in due course. These things take time to filter through the system. Once it has gone through the lenders systems it will show as closed right away on credit searches the lenders make, but will not show on the online versions for up to 2 months.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
