Hi all, we have successfully completed our IVA last year, and it dropped off our credit reports in December 2011. Have checked all the credit reference agencies and both of our credit reports are clean now, and we have good scores. We want to buy a house, and was wondering if anybody has had any success getting a mortgage after IVA completion. We are currently saving for a deposit and have 10% at the minute. Is it best to go to a broker?

Thanks

Also, has anybody tried to buy a new build house? Using one of the newbuy or shared equity schemes?

Hi and welcome to the forum. We do have an all of the market broker Ryan who posts on the forum as an expert. Ryan has helped some other posters even if it's just with advice, might be worth a chat with him. He can be found in the ask a question section.

Other than that just hang in there as I'm sure someone with experience of mortgage post IVA will be along to share soon. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I got one easily after my score repaired and file was clean, I did have a 35% deposit though so would try a broker, it should be achievable on a 10% deposit, you'll get better rates if you can save more though. Be prepared to have your finances scrutinised by the lender, they can be a lot more intrusive these days, the good thing is the IVA gets you used to accounting so I found it easy to apply.
