We never never took the nationwide one any further as they only did a six month offer and as our house is meant to be finished between October and December the broker advised us to go with Halifax for now to know we are safe and have an offer for the timeframe needed but nearer the time we can always change to someone with cheaper interest rates like nationwide

looks like you got lucky! After speaking to Ryan i had an offer in principle from the Halifax but it seems that they have just changed their forms and they now ask if you have ever been in an IVA.
Having to try a different lender now. fingers crossed.

That's a shame Terryh that they gave you the offer in principal and then changed things, fingers crossed Ryan finds you another provider. We have the written offer from Halifax now and have signed contracts so hopefully they won't change their mind between now and when our house is built!
