Does anyone know if an IVA will impact an application for becoming a resident in another country (OZ). My partner and I are thinking of moving out of the UK within 2 years and living there. His Job is classed as professional and I could through based on being his partner, but I was wondering if anyone knows if an IVA impacts my chances?

Also, I've only been in an IVA for 2 days, but will probably want to sell my property within 2 years. I have the equity release clause in year 4, would they allow this to happen early and continue the IVA whilst out of the country?

Hi Jay

So soon after your IVA has been accepted you have these plans! Did you dicuss them with your IP prior to putting the proposals to creditors? An IVA should not affect your applicaiton to live abroad, but you cannot guarantee the early settlement via the house sale.

Well, it will be at least two years before we actually move out of the country, for various reasons etc.
Do you think I would still sell the house and give up the amount that was due in year 4? and continue the payments until the end?

Hi
This should not be a problem in a couple of years, who knows you may be able to offer the whole house sale proceeds as a full and final settlement.

I approached my IP with this sort of proposal and they slapped some sort of prevention order on my property that means I have to get their permission before I can sell up and move.

Considering how uselessly slow they are at doing anything else, they did this at the speed of light.
There's light at the end of the tunnel - it's just that sometimes the tunnel seems so long.
