Hi all I have a question about moving. I currently live in rented accommodation and have just sent off all paperwork to debt free direct (am hoping to be able to do a one off IVA payment as I have a house in another part of the country I am selling). However I am currently sub-letting a room in a flat, but the bloke who rents the flat never gets anything fixed....I have had no oven for 4 months, the timer on the heating does not work (his answer to this is to leave the heating on all night (enough said!!)) and now the fridge is packing up (personally I cannot afford to throw all the food away...but I had to). When I rented the room....he said that it was ok for him to sublet (I have nothing in writing), but everytime I ask for the landlords number, I am fobbed off...and if I mention anything he shouts at me. He is recently aware that I am trying to get an IVA and has been horrible about it. Anyway to cut a long and prob boring story short I would really like to move but if I do will I have problems with the IVA, or is it better just to put up with it and stay until I know whether or not it will be approved??

If you move will your figures change, will you be paying more in rent, have debt free direct put together a proposal for you yet - have you spoken to them?

I think it would be best for you to move out now and get settled into a new rental before you enter into the IVA. That way you can put the right figure in for your monthly rent, and a future move will not mean that your payments will have to be adjusted.

Melanies right, you have enough stress worrying about your debts, without the additional stress of this bloke who sounds like a complete nightmare!!
Get out quick

Aye...it is not a good situation and adds to my stress....my issue is that I have put this all off for so long, struggled, robbed peter to pay paul and finally got up the courage to get things sorted..paperwork has just been sent off...and I have not been managing to make payments to creditors....one of whom is now threatening legal action....I so just want it to be sorted, but am also really unhappy living hereand due to having to find a deposit etc will likely have to wait a couple of months, (have been out of work since Nov...but recently started a new job)...so I guess I just wanted to know if I could move while things were progressing or not....I think I will have to stick it here in the short term...rent is not likely to be any cheaper, and I refuse to pay more...London is horrendously expensive!!!!!

Do you have to live in London, i grew up in SE London and always felt i belonged there, moved out towards Erith - still technically in London, but now moved out to Kent and so much happier - plus left the ex-husband in London (the cause of all my debts)

I live in zone 3 (not so far from you)....and am happy to move a bit further out, but I work in the city and really don't want to have more of a commute than I already do, but am looking at options. My real question I suppose was if I could up and move now while everything is going through or if I should wait...and I guess waiting is better...although I have coped with no oven, no heating timer, only me ever cleaning and being spoken to like a 5 year old child...no fridge is about the last straw!!! Blimey I sound like a right moaner...but think I have actually been pretty good about the whole thing, I guess once you start sorting yourself out, you also start standing up for yourself!!!

Hi
You could move now as long as it does not affect the figures in your proposal, otherwise you will have to speak with your IP and propose a different disposible income.
