I would pray for MP's but it wouldn't be to let them off. Fraud pure and simple. They all say it was a mistake how can so many make similar mistakes it is impossible.

It is their greed that got them into this and they cant claim to forget about a mortgage thats already been paid off. One or two mistakes yes, thats acceptable. Fraud is a crime, they are guilty of it. There isnt much that makes me mad but this really does, its almost the same thing as having someone fix your boiler or your car and conning the pants off you. They dont deserve to be where they are, they are dishonest. How can any of it be excused? They should be forced into BR, given a BRO or BRU or even both for life and not be allowed to hold a job in a trusted position. I pray that they dont get away with it.

I hope they don't and if they don't there will be very few of them left.

I can't help thinking it'll be another whitewash like the cash for honours 'investigation' though.

BTW has anyone else seen that Tony Blair's expenses have been 'accidentally' shredded?

don't think it would matter. Apparantly he is the highest paid public speaker in the world at the moment and really racking in money hand over fist. But I am sure he had some expenditure to hide.

Thats a shame isnt it, he was probably very 'honest'. Yeah right. We will never know and never be able to trust them again. Some are just more equal than others.

And how much public money has the speaker wasted trying to keep this secret? He's been fighting it for years.

I'm sure it would a long way towards paying off everyone's on this forum!

I read today that the speaker is planning to announce his resignation, but he won't be going until the next election and by then he will be able to hand down his seat to his son!

How bad is that?

I am very sorry MTL, the last thing I would want to do is make anyone sad but I cant help my feelings on this issue. Its a shame that people abuse thier position and forget about honesty and integrity.

When I was working in the NHS, I often had elderly people waving money at me wanting to pay for their treatment, not realising it was free. I was desperately short but I wouldnt, couldnt take it from them, sometimes I was worried I would run out of petrol on my rounds.

These people were respected, in a respected position, they must have realised that.
