My mum is a big Englebert fan as well! Apparently my dad bought her 'Please Release Me' as a wedding anniversary present - I wonder if he was trying to tell her something!

Couldn't stand him either!!!

My mom was into Frank Ifield, Des O'Connor, Matt Munro. Not my scene at all.

I had country from my dad and Englebert and Jimbo from my mum - no wonder I've got strange taste in music!

My mum's got a picture of me when I was a baby asleep in my dad's arms while he listened to his country music - no wonder I'm a Johnny Cash fan!

My mother loved columbo, I got her collection of DVD's which I had bought for her. (whats that got to do with music, I hear you say). Well nothing, just that Johnny cash is in one of the episodes, his voice is fantastic Skip. I am really into Columbo myself now, he is fab, although he is probably pushing up naughty murdering daisies by now. As long as they are not lilies.

Thanks for the Jim Reeves info, I was born in the sixties but not til the end.

1968 Just turned 40 feels more like 60 though. Culture club, yes, Duran duran. I dont remember the 60's at all, was too much of a carefree child in the 70's. 80's I started taking some notice of things, especially George. Mom and Dad were worried, were yours?'

Damn nuisance this bursting into song thingy isnt it? eh? Do it myself and I'm still on the pills.

I usually flit between the radio and cd.
I listen to radio 1 and am a BIG Chris Moyles fan.
The CD that plays most at the minute is Clubland 13 CD 1.
I also love the Scissor Sisters but the CD is so overplayed that now it jumps.

I remember at the beginning of the 80's doing a training course in London.

We used to go to a nightclub called Baileys which was in Watford. Saw Darts there(remember them?) and they were one of the best live acts I have ever seen. Fanastic night!

Went to the same place a few weeks later on our last night to see David Essex. What a disappointment! No patter between the songs and it was so loud that when he had finished the disco music took about 10 minutes to filter through to my brain - thought I had gone deaf!

When we were in Greece a few years back, the owner of the restaurant was convinced hubby was Dave Grohl! He even gave him a free drink! I think hubby had grown his beard and hair a bit.

We saw Foo Fighters at the NEC back in 2005 and they were brilliant. We took our eldest, it was her first gig and she has been hooked on live music ever since. She goes to a lot of gigs now, just as I did when I was her age. I remember when I lived in Chesterfield,(1983 it was) I was 15 and me and some mates had tickets to see Judas Priest in Birmingham but had no way of getting there so we fare dodged on the train (probably shouldn't admit that but I was young). Had a brilliant time but got caught on the way home with no train ticket and got thrown off at Derby. We had to phone a mate's Dad to pick us up at about 1am. One of my fondest memories of youth!!

What a great post, I love the Indigo Girls, Joan Baez, Jane Siberry, Lisa Gerrard etc etc, for chilling out, and when i am well on one, pumping hard house and trance as loud as possible, love doing the cleaning to it, I also like some of the 80's stuff aswell, OMD, Depeche Mode, great stuff.
