Hi,

My debt is running out of control (for me, anyway) and I want to come to a workable solution. I know I need to seek professional advice but don't really know where to start. I'm in Sheffield but have no idea which local practitioners are good (or helpful), so don't know whether to go loval or look at the respected IPs from this site and others.

Also, I am currently using a credit card to pay for another credit card and 2 loans, so am increasing my debt. As I am going to have to take action (either IVA or BR) in the very near future, should I stop payment to these other creditors as it is doing nothing to help the overall situation?

Any advice most genuinely welcomed.

Hi ade and welcome. You can get reviews and practioners local to you on iva.com. It is not imperative to have an Ip close to you and I would highly reccomend Melanie or Ian who post on this site. Initial advice costs no more than a phone call. I would seek advice before stopping paments to creditors. Many have had to use credit to pay debts but as you say it is just increasing th debts so get advice asap and find the solution that is best for your situation.

all the best

hi and welcome!

we were in a very similar situation to you - robbing peter to pay paul and feeling like it was all caving in on us - compare a few ip s from this site before you make your mind up - but i would seek help from an ip as soon as possible as like you say your debts are just increasing. we are with melanie and i have found her to be excellent

good luck in whatever you decide

Hi Ade

I fully sympathise, we are in the same position. We have used credit to pay debt. The cycle is difficult to break. We are working with Payplan and so far the help and support is excellent. Check out their website. If you are not sure how to find them as a friend of mine says "Google it" The tel no is 0800 917 7823.

Good luck

Hi Ade65 ... and welcome to the Forum.

Well done on acknowledging the need to start to lock the stable door before the horse has started to bolt!

You could do a lot worse than to contact one of the experts that post on the Forum here ... especially Melanie Giles who is fast earning the reputation as "The People's IP" [:)]

Good luck, keep in touch with the Forum and let us know how you are getting on.
