My ex boyfriend who I took out a mortgage with has packed his stuff and left leaving me with the entire mortgage to pay and bills. I do not earn enough to be able to make the monthly repayments. What would my options be and surely my ex is still responsible and cannot get away with just leaving me on my own with outstanding debt.

Your ex-partner is jointly responsible for the mortgage payments, and if you default it will put the mortgagee in a position where they can commence possession proceedings.

Could you take in a lodger to help with the bills?
