My husband does not want anything to do with my debt as I was in debt before I got married to him. Can I set up an IVA in my sole name? I nearly caused the breakdown of my marriage cos of these debts so I want to do this on my own.

Yes you can,you must include all your debts[unsecured]and joint debts.
Can you give some figures so that I can advise further.

Hi ndla and welcome to the forum

It is a shame that your husband does not want to support you, but IVA's are always proposed in sole names so as long as you can afford the repayments this may be possible.

This forum, and its many contributors, will provide you with lots of ongoing support - both professionally and pastorally - so do be sure to continue to post, as it sounds like you need some moral support throughout the process.
