I have e-mailed my IP (well, one of the members of staff I deal with) and have been told that she has left the firm. I sent her an e-mail last Thursday, and never got a response, but as I was away visiting the in-laws, I didn't chase it with any urgency. I sent a further query yesterday and got an e-mail this morning saying she has left the firm.

I'm gutted, because she was very approachable, and obviously understood my case. I have been assigned a new "case manager", and I am apprehensive about whether I will get the same service (obviously I haven't mentioned this to them!) I fully understand that people move on, but I'm a bit scared that my new case manager won't be as good, as approachable, as understanding, etc. [?][:0][8)]

hi
i would expect that if you had a good relationship with you last ip you will be able to build a good one with your ip afterall companys have guide lines to follow and ip in the whole are proffesional people so i dont think you would have a drama.
dont know that much about ivas however human nature ensures will have personal standards !!!

Hi Chris I have had the same this week as well didnt realise my case manager had left. I asked to be called back as soon as a case manager was assigned and they did. Be positive mine sounded just as friendly and agreed with all the other had. It is very unerving though isnt it when you get on with them and feel at ease with any quereies. Hope all is well

My new case manager seems to be OK, but it's a bit unnerving when you build up a rappore with them. I'm sure I will be OK though (I hope!)

Sorry but I thought your IP looks after you and you had to remain with them and not the firm.

When i was in an IVA my IP changed firms and I had to move with him!

As a result of a legal decision a number of years ago it was established that whilst the legal responsibilities rest with the IP the case is owned by the firm. As a result if the IP leaves generally arrangements are made to transfer the cases to another IP within the firm, unless the IP and the firm make arrangements for him (or her) to retain them.

However, I think cr15py is referring to the case manager. In that case they can simply draft in someone else to manage the cases.

Yes, I am referring to the case manager. From what I know about this particular firm, it's a one-man-band, with a small team of about 5 or 6 working underneath him.

In which case, if you have any problems you should have no problem speaking to your Supervisor direct. I would not worry. People do move on!
