Hello all
I have been in an IVA since July last year, I went to Debtmatters who were very helpful in sorting out my case.
I had been in a downward debt spiral since 2004 and finally realised that I couldn't go on with this about April 2006.
My stupid bank were only interested in selling me more debt and "consolidation" loans.
When I sat down with the IP and worked through all my debt it came to a shocking £111,000!
I just couldn't believe how much debt I had gotten into.
Anyway I now have my IVA sorted and am pleased that a very trying and stressful period of my life is over.
My new problem is that now I have just been promoted but require an "SC" security clearance to do my new job.
I was given the form to complete and, needless to say, I now have explain all my financial problems.
More sleepless nights of worry ahead!
Life is certainly a roller coaster ride but it seems to be more downs than ups!!

Hi Rob

Hang in there, it will all be worth it in the end. Do you have anyone to talk to when you feel down?

Congrats on the promotion and I hope it all works out for you.

Hi Lee
Yes I am still with my long suffering partner of 9 years!
Part of the reason why I got into so much debt was helping clear some of her student debts left over from Uni.
We keep struggling onwards and upwards!!!

Good evening Rob,

Welcome to the forum.

So many people on this forum have been where you are. You're right, it is hard to enjoy and appreciate what you're going through until it is over.

“Life can be like a roller coaster...
And just when you think you've had enough,
and your ready to get off the ride and take the calm, easy merry-go round...
You change your mind, throw you hands in the air
and ride the roller coaster all over again…that's being ALIVE."

Congratulations on the promotion and I hope it all works out for you.

Good luck

Julia

Hi Rob 65

I know a little about SC clearance, as I was in the Army for a number of years. The IVA will have no bearing on your clearance, so worry no more.

Dear all
Thank you for your kind words of support.
It is such a pleasant change to have positive and encouraging support when you seem to be drowning in a sea of negativity!
Many thanks
Rob
