I'm actually quite happy with them at the moment. I'm not at all bothered by not having a debit card for the next four years, I can pay my bills online through the bank, and withdraw cash from any cash machine.
Unless they suddenly discover my IVA and boot me out, I'm content to remain there for the time being.

Anyone got any ideas where my son could bank - he is with HSBC at present - my major creditor. He is off to Uni next year and needs an account for student loans (God help him) etc. and for the payment of his fees. I am concerned that wherever he goes they will credit check me as he lives at home with us
The Yorkshire offer a basic account with a maestro card. No credit checks and full online/telephone banking. I can vouch as I have just opened the account this month and all is good at the mo. Its the readycash account, although you will need to go into branch to open it. Takes about a week.
There's nothing wrong with Nationwide David. If you open a Flexaccount with them you can automatically link esavings accounts to it and transfer money across. I've done this - I have one for my monthly savings and one to save odd money for a bit of holiday spending.
one thing i forgot to add elv5 is that you can also transfer money into another non yorkshire bank account on the internet. Something my old major bank never offered!
F&F Accepted on 12th March 2015!
Completion Cert arrived 26th March 2015!
That is better still Skippy - that is exactly what he is looking for - when he is at the RA of Music he is hoping to get some private work teaching the oboe and piano and he wants a savings account for that
That's ridiculous! I had a Co-op Cashminder account when I was BR and I used to pay cheques into the Post Office on a Saturday and they would be cleared by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

If you are refering to A and L - perfectly ok apart from the time it takes to clear a cheque. The only other problem is that you will need to be accurate with your arithmetic both in and out because you only get statements every 3 months - but you soon get used to it. You can get balances from any ATM machine and mini statements from any A/L machine at their branches. What I liked about them is they did not ask any awkward questions.
