Hi. Myself and my husband are lookng to open a basic bank account but are having problems finding a one that is somehow not connected to our creditors. Does anyone know which banks are in the nationwide or yorkshire bank group as I am thinking of applying to one of them.

Hi Kes

As far as I am aware Nationwide are independent which is why I changed to them as there were very few financial institutions I didn't owe money to [:(]

Can't fault them and their online banking service is vey good and easy to use. I know that their policy has changed to not acceping bankrupts but not sure what it would be if are in the early stages of seeking an IVA.

Good luck.

Nationwide are linked to the Portman Building Society, but I don't know if they are linked to anyone else.

We are with Nationwide, but had an account with them before IVA.

They are good and would give them a go.

Same here, we have a cash card account with Nationwide, but again we opened it before our IVA.

Had no problems with it though.

Thank you for your help. I think we are going to look into Nationwide for a flex cash account. We are just beginning the iva process so hope we can get an account okay.
