Sorry for this people,

Not only do Natwest insult me and most of the people in the UK by changing our accounts from a Step account to a very basic one allowing us only allowing us to withdraw from only Natwest, RBS and Post Office accounts they now send out a new debit card with BASIC written all over it.

I am totally insulted and to be honest embarrassed. Now going into restaurants and the like to hand that over and see someone look over it and think ooh what a low down person they are. I am sorry and I know it sounds like I want to be better person but it is truly awful to have that put all over your card!!!

That's not good Ray - even Nationwide don't do that with their basic flex account.

You have my sympathies Ray - that does seem somewhat badly thought out.

Though I'm not with this bank, and have managed to get the standard classic current account with Lloyds TSB pre iva, I would have to agree with you.

I do think that if they are doing that then it is bad, to a point where I'd just draw the money out beforehand and pay cash.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

Try Barclays or Nationwide or Yorkshire Bank - they might be better.

Lukily I was able to upgrade to Select (don't ask me how) and so have that open but have to still arrange to have salary and change DD's over so was going to leave it as felt it a lot of hassle but now might be the time. x

That's really bad - worse than the old Visa Electron cards. I hope those who can boycott RBS - they need to remember who owns the majority of the bank.

Hmmm Co Op just have VISA on it!!!!

I was quite impressed with as taxpayers providing an IVA to RBS and Lloyds. They are not very good conducting themselves with some of their bonuses! Me thinks they should make a larger contribution to their IVA if they have these excesses. Must point this out to their supervisor!

Seriously

I would have thought the basis bank accounts with Visa would seriously remove the "feeling bad" when paying. I still use my cards from my IVA and have no regrets and don't care what anyone thinks as i know that the bill has been paid and have the funds to pay for it!

My Lloylds TSB acc is just a cash point card and my other card is the same as other accounts, my gf's card has the 2012 olympic sponsor logo, and mine does as well!

Although some of the guys at work asked me the other day why do i pay cash for everything, i never pay by card for anything anymore!

Some years ago, I took my new GF to a restaurant, The frist thing they ask was, which card are you paying with sir.
when I said I will pay in cash, was told we only take payments for meals by card.
we had to leave.
IVA now over with and it was worth it.
now starting my life again,

The RBS ones havnt changed yet however i told they will soon in preperation to move over the santander, i believe theirs have 'basic' stamped across it, may as well just say "scum with no money" instead!
