It does sometimes depend on the retailer though - I know that some cards are not accepted in pay at pump petrol stations and of course if the retailer doesn't accept certain cards then it doesn't matter whether the cashier handles the card or not.

Must admit i never use the "pay at pump" - the amount of times the machine has swallowed the card, i was beginning to wonder if they had a CCTV attached to it, just for me :-.

I did think they were getting rid of the electron anyway - and just have the "visa" card

Since Nationwide upgraded then I've used it at Asda (cheapest fuel by me) and I've never had the card swallowed.

If you can get an account pre IVA before your credit rating is too bad, a lot of time you can get a full account.

we have a basic account with tsb and luckily have no problems at all with them. We were given a debit card too which helps.

I haven't had any probs with the cashminder visa card. I know the beginning numbers relate to the old electron card numbers but I can pay at the pump at Tescos with no problem.
