slightly off subject so apologies

I was with nat west pre IVA ( incl cards they were my biggest creditor ) and whilst im happy with Nationwide , i really miss the nat west online banking as it was superb, particularly the planning calculator they had which you could use to see how much spare money you would have for the month ( not that i had any at the time )

Unfortunately i imagne it will be many years ( if any ) before Nat West would touch me with a barge pole
Last payment made April 2012
Certificate received 1st Nov 2012

basic account holders of any insitution are full account holders of the future though as I bet they all too often look to upgrade where possible and try and entice you to a paying account or to take products as although they always claim the customer service comes first in reality the staff are sales driven.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

We still have a full Barclays account as they weren't hubby's creditor and we kept the account open.

We use Nationwide for everyday banking and I do like their online banking but will probably switch back Barclays when the IVA is completed.

Very true Lesley -- in this target driven world, customer service suffers every time.

Nat west was our biggest creditor also so we had to move elsewhere. Its apain only been able to withdraw 200 per day and having to pay cash all the time. Could really do with a debit card but no cheque book or over draught or credit card. Wel we can dream for now but one day (o happy day)some one will put there trust in us.

Hi Lesley
We are with HSBC and have been since IVA. I have read a lot of bad things about them on this forum but to be honest they have been ok with us so far. This was the only bank we could think of that had no connection with our creditors. We are allowed to use the in bank transfer machine and they have offered us internet banking. Just worried after reading comments about asking for a debit card, i dont want to change banks but hate the restrictions a basic cash card brings.

You're very lucky Kev - they are well known for closing down accounts.

The C0-op card is a normal debit card.

Kev, I would be very wary of HSBC. It seems you have slipped through their net, for now. They are renowned for closing accounts when they discover you are in an IVA ( I don't know if you saw the recent thread where a poster had her HSBC account frozen and couldn't even buy food for a few days!

In your position I would at least open a co-op cashminder to act as a lifeboat should HSBC "out you".

The co-op Visa Debit card is no longer the Electon / Delta animal of old and can be used everywhere.

Hi ALL
There where not one of our creditors so we did not owe them anything and have been with them over 6 years now. As such surely they can not close our account. We made our final payment in December after doing the extra year due to lack of equity. We have our house insurance through them as well which they offered us after joining the bank over 6 rears ago.

Kev, you must give me your lottery numbers, as it seems your luck is in !

As to whether they can close your account ... well ... yes ! They can withdraw services for any reason, and often do.

Kev it makes no difference. They trawl the register and will close accounts of people in an IVA regardless of whether or not they were a creditor.

You were very lucky to have slipped through the net.
