Well after numerous emails (sorry Amie) It seems like we are nearly ready for the next step! All documents sent...just waiting valuation to be compiled. Fingers crossed Mels team draw up a realistic/affordable but fair Proposal which will be accepted at first meeting! Looking forward to getting on the road to debt freedom! The more people i speak to the more people i find are or have been in the same boat! very reassuring!

Thanks for keeping us in the loop abbiesmum2003. No doubt Mel's team will put the best possible case forward for you. Hopefully, you'll soon be starting your IVA journey. It's great that you found this forum from the outset. I was 3 years in before I did, and it's been the best thing about being in an IVA - hands down. Well, not including perfecting my chicken bones and pumpkin soup that can feed the 5000 for under £3!! My budgeting is really on-point!! x
IVA journey started: 30th March 2009. Settled: 17th July 2012. Completion Certificate received: 13th March 2013. Breathe. x

You will be fine with Mel.

Have to say though Gillib that chicken bones and pumpkin soup wouldn't do it for me!!

Hi Abbiesmum

We're at just the same stage. All info sent and our first chat with Marc re the proposal this morning. Have been feeling upbeat all day just because after many, many years of struggling to pay debts, a solution is now in sight.

If reputation is anything to go by I'm so glad I came across this forum before we chose our IP.

@debt tired...thats exactly how im feeling! Years of trying to cope and here we are on the verge of being debt free in 5 years. It doubds a while but we have been in this for 10+ and no way out so if all it takes is 5-6 years of tight budgeting then we will do it and will never touch a CC again. People warning us about credit rating being hit but it csnt get much worse than it is now so things can only really get better. We are realistic about ups and downs along the way but anything that crops up we will sort as if anything crops up now we are in no position to sort it out. I am so pleased i found this forum before commiting to first company i contacted. After speaking to Mel/team we are so much more confident it will succeed.

It was difficult for us too Abbiesmum, trying to think how are we going to manage, i spent some time doing an excel sheet so we track everything we spend and at the start we were shocked how much we spent eher and there, it also helped us give a correct Expenses account for our proposal. Never looked back I must say, we are so much happier and our situation I know we would not still be a family together if we had not done anything, Your in geed hands with Mels team, just look at the time Mel spends in the early hours helping us all with advise and telling us about her adventures crawling around nightclub floors looking for her contacts :-) The way we looked at our Credit rating was, we were behind anyway so it was shot for perhaps 3-4 years, making it extend by another 2 years was not an issue for us if we could pay as much back as we could but also become a family again. The best move we ever did was admitting we had a problem, I stand up and say My name is "In-A-Mess-Indeed" and im a Materialistic purchaser ..........(well i was before we had the IVA)
Took The plunge and made the call, changed our family life and we have never been happier. Debt free and wont go back..... IVA was by far the best thing we ever did to teach us the real value of Family and money
