I need advice as to how the IVA will effect my prospects of new employment. Ie when you have a credit check by the new employers will an IVA scupper my chances of getting the job.
I currently work in a solicitors handling personal injury work. I want to find new employment but am worried having this IVA will mean i am rejected if and when credit checks are done
An IVA will definitely appear on your credit record however it is up to the company in question as to how they handle that information.
We have a number of clients who are successfully going through IVAs and work in solicitor firms although I can understand your concerns if you haven't even got the job yet.
An IVA can take on average 8 weeks to put in place however an IP can suspend processing until you have a job if that is imminent.
You could also do a Debt Management Plan as an interim measure. You will not appear on the Insolvency Register but it will affect your credit record so you will not have gained anything in that respect.
The best thing to do is to speak to a number of compaines about your options and take it from there.
