Strange how you don't take much notice of certain occasions when you're not living to a tight budget.

You get over Christmas & New Year then in Feb you get Valentines day. In March you get Mothers day, then April is Easter. A little respite until June for Fathers day. All finished just in time for the summer holidays!

Halloween at the end of October, Bonfire night in Nov, then back to Christmas. Then, in amongst all this, we have birthdays and anniversaries. No wonder we never had any money before either [:D][:D]

Don't forget Grandparents Day as well, plus all the cards and things you are supposed to give the teachers at the end of the school year!

When my daughter was born, my parents were given an option - you can either have something from her on Mothers Day and Fathers Day, or Grandparents Day - not both!

Don't send each other Valentines or anniversary cards. We've never bothered with Halloween either, don't send Easter cards and fortunately all this rubbish with cards for teachers started after she left school!

She has been told not to buy me anything this Sunday either. There's nothing I need or want so why waste her money?

I wonder if you can get mother in law cards? I have sent for a CD for my mum in law and have some little things in a bag for her, like hand cream, body shop stuff, I dont really feel right buying a mothers day card but she always sends me a daughter card, so perhaps I will. Also I know what I have got, I have, I think got a pamper day from my 3 kids here. A letter came from 'sensory spoil the ladies in your life' pamper and it didnt look like junk mail. I'll love it if it is. I pretended not to see it and my son kind of announced, oh I have had some junk, dont worry about that, then I heard him texting like mad. Mind you, he might have a chick he hasnt told me about.

I think you can get some cards which say 'You're like a mother to me', as my stepson and stepdaughter-in-law send me one every year. Don't know if that would be any good.

Hi Lily

Check out the following link.

http://www.quickegreets.com/family/mday40.html

It has Mum in Law cards on there you can downloand - and when I googled "mother in law cards for mothers day" there seemed to be a lot of choice.

Thank you Melanie, thats just what I want.

We had my Father in laws funeral on 13th Feb, my Mum in law wanted flowers that were two hearts linked together one white and one red. The cost of the red flowers were 5 times that of the white flowers so I talked her into white and yellow.

I tell mine not to buy flowers, they just like to do something though and I dont lift a finger on the day.

Thanks Jan, of course, my son actually sent me one of those on my birthday once. I had to smile though.

He also got a boxed valantines card for his girlfriend and threw it away as he accidently signed it.... the joys of thinking literally, eh?

It's pretty much a normal day for me. Hubby does all the cooking and we don't do housework on a Sunday so it's business as usual!

Just looked on the calendar and realised that fathers day is on the same day as the wifes birthday this year. Let battle commence [;)] who will win control of the remote???
