I wrote last week to say that I'd experience trouble opening a new account with Co-op. They would only honour an electron card and I really wanted a full debit card so that I can continue to order my groceries online to get maximum value for money!

I'm glad to report that I've actually now managed to open a new account with another high street bank with a full debit card.

I will go into the co-op and withdraw my balance and close the account, but I will also have to re-transfer all of my direct debits and payments from this account now.

Has anyone had any problems with their new bank accounts once their IVA was accepted (when the new bank are not a creditor)? i.e would they be likly to withdraw card facilities? or do they even get to find out you're in an IVA?

I'm with co-op and have the electron card, I still use online shopping, never had a problem with it. Sometimes can't use it in certain shops but never had a problem online, yet....
It's nice to be back......

I have a Lloyds TSB bank account, which gives debit card, but no cheque card - I opened it at the start of the IVA route, and we've just been accepted - so hope they don't close it.
Can't see why they would close an account if there are no credit facilities on it - not like we'll be running off with their overdraft money!
I can't have a Co-Op one as it is one of our creditors.
k.
