Hi<

I am about to move out and am thinking about applying for an IVA as will 49k debt i cant afford to live and pay my bills.

As of yet i havent seen as IP but am trying to work out a budget etc before i go to see them.

Into my budget i have put sky as it seems to be really good value broadband, tv, phone package and as I work in marketing/sales and occasionally work from home i need the internet and phone (Bt is more expensive)

I have gone for the cheapest package at 21 then added my BT line rental of 10.50. Will i be allowed this total cost of 31.50 on my budget.

the reason i ask is cause i need teh broadband etc as soon as i move in for work but obviously will be about to contact IP's.

My boyfriend thinks i should wait and see if i am allowed sky package and whether i will be allowed it on an IVA as if i had to cancel it would be a penalty charge.

Does anyone know if i will be allowed it- should i go ahead and order it and then put it in the budget or wait and see if i am allowed it - I really need if for work but dont want to mess up my chances of getting an IVA.
By the way with everything included in my budget including sky i have a left over income of £450.

any thoughts gratefully received [:)]

Hi
You should be allowed a basic sky package of approx £20 plus your phone costs,so a package of £31 should be fine

£450 per month against £49,000 of debt is suitable for an IVA, as under debt management it would take 9 years, and that's if interest is stopped and there are no charges to you for the DMP.

Good luck.

Works out about 45p/£, which is generally fine for an IVA.

Hope everything works out OK for you. [:)]

Hi Frazzled
Regarding your Sky package, I have a similar one with Virgin Media, at £39.00 /mth. This was included in my income/expenditure and there were no problems at creditors meeting. I am with Payplan (56 p in £ on 41K debt - monthly disposable of 458.00.
Hope this helps

We were given a £50 allowance in our I&E per month for a telecommunications package - we have managed to get BT phone line, Sky TV with free telephone calls and broadband (2mb) - we even have managed to get Sky Sports within the allowance - so he in doors is well pleased! Amazing what you can do when you try!
