Hi,

We are thinking of introducing a buddy system where people can see roughly where other forum users are based in UK (based on their postcode and if they want to be on the system).

If people then want to become buddies with other people in their area then they can send an email through the system, the person can then respond directly if they want to.

People will have the choice if they want to be on the buddy system and can remove themselves at any time. Obviously protecting peoples privacy is a top priority but the above should allow that whilst at the same time enabling people to find people in their local area that are experiencing the same problems.

A few people have requested this kind of functionality.

We are thinking of adding it to the forum so that members can edit their profile and either be on the buddy system or not based on their preference.

What do people think? Will it be useful?

That's a great idea Admin, and I am sure that you will have a few takers. Mutual support is such a large part of living through debt problems, and this forum is at the forefront of promoting community spirit.

Sounds like a great idea Admin.

Although, maybe we should have that facility regardless of the area we are in. That way, you are not inundated with requests from us all to swap emails!

I'm in.[:)] X

I agree with Viki - I think we should be able to contact people regardless of the area. Most of the people I email are not from my area, so I'd be a bit lonely!

Count me in as well!

Just one question - how will we stop the spammers contacting us? The thought of a load of spam emails does put me off!

Many thanks to you for your feedback [:)] and we are working out the best security system to prevent spamming before we introduce the facility Skippy .. taking a little time, but we'll get there [:D]

Count me in as well. I'm not aware of anyone else in my postcode area, but you never know!
