No, as long as you do stick within your budget you should be ok. No more worrying about which credit card to pay the bills with.
I started off by doing a 'virtual' shop before going out and pricing everything up at Asda so I knew what the bill was coming to. As we buy pretty much the same stuff every week I don't do that now.
We live much better now than we used to.

No, you're definitely not on another planet. I can't wait to actually have money in the bank to spend and not just using credit cards and constantly being overdrawn. Hopefully things will be ok tomorrow.
I'm just waiting for all the phone calls to start, I think I chose the right path at the right time. Already had the first call today from Egg as I cancelled the direct debit with my old bank to avoid additional charges on that overdraft. I think I received good advice those few weeeks ago when I made my tentative enquiries and was advised to open a new bank account ASAP before the money ran out.
Good luck for tomorrow mate xxx

If your credit rating has taken a bit of a bashing lately I would imagine you'll be given a Solo card rather than a Maestro but you can use Solo in the majority of places, online and in person.
Thanks for that. The card I have has the Maestro logo on the back and the Solo logo on the fron, so far it's been accepted at all the shops I have used it in and also to withdraw cash at the Post Office. x
That's a Solo card then , it will begin 6767. They authorise every transaction with a Solo so you can't go overdrawn (that's a good thing!). I think pay at pump petrol is a problem with Solo, some pay at pump garages don't take Solo - others do but 'authorise' a minimum of £20 so even if you only wanted £5 worth of petrol as that's all you had in your account it would check to see if you had £20 and ringfence it. Other than that it's a fully functioning debit card.
