Hi facingittogether,
It's great to hear yet more praise for Melanie and her team. I have read so many horror stories of people making the wrong decision when it comes to their IP and I'm so thankful for this forum, as without it I would never have found Melanie. I know it's very early days for us yet but I'm feeling much more positive now I know things are being sorted.

One thing I found strange today was after explaining to a creditor (GE capital on behalf of Debenhams) that we were in the process of an IVA, she had to put me on hold to check with her supervisor as she said she had never heard of an IVA. I found this quite curious, has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks Angela,
It's just awful not knowing what's going to happen next. We have had a slight delay too in that I managed to get most of our balances easily, but some of them are not in writing so I am chasing that now. It's been 2 weeks already since our initial contact with Melanie so I guess I'm going to have some patience as it's going to be a while yet before we have anything set in stone. I know from reading other posts that Melanie is very successful and that she would not have agreed to take on our case if she didn't think we would be accepted, I'm just going to be a total wreck until we get our outcome as I'm such a worrier by nature. At least I can share my worries on the forum, think I would have cracked before now without it!!
Look forward to getting to know everyone on the forum x

i was the same.. calling for loan agreements all of the time.. took weeks for GE money to get back.. but once all done everything went through quite quick. Melanie is very good, you've just got to let her do her job..

it is very hard and really scary, but worth it in the end. I was a jibbering idiot most of the time and only outlet was on here as only a couple of work colleagues know of our finances.

Good luck..

I know what you mean, trying to keep this whole thing secret from the kids is a nightmare!! I have to wait until they are not around beofre I make any phonecalls or go on the computer. We are trying to keep this secret from family and friends too so I feel like we are living a bit of a secret life at the moment. I'm dreading our names going on the insolvency register, Ive been on and seen how easy it is to search for people. I suppose this will be the price we pay for many years of living beyond our means!! My only positive thought on the register is that I guess if someone is searching on there then they more than likely have a debt problem themselves. I had never heard of the register before joining the forum. x

Hi Bettyboop,
Welcome to the forum - a great place to get all the advise you will ever need!
We had our IVA accepted in March, so will be paying our 5th payment soon, I think it took about 8 weeks to go through.
Good luck with everything.
k.

me meither.. we're on and my date of birth cheeky gits!! promised myself only time would look again was to check is removed!!

we've told our daughter majority.. easier than all of a sudden saying no you can't as opposed to yes to everything!! she was fine and is quite good, wants new mobile but is asking for money for birthday and will save for rest.. suppose it gives her a sense of monetary value to things

hello to all im new too
had a problem with equity red star i made a claim on my accidental damage insurance and they have repudiate the claim saying that the damage was'nt done the way i told them they say the carpet is just wear n tear the carpet isnt 12 months old and for it to wear in 9 1/2 months i must be parking a truck on the carpet then i told them for it to wear that fast my mother has the same sort of carpet in her study and its been down for 9 years and has the dog, kids, and my old man coming in and out of the house in his work boots on were is the common sense in this country if it was fraudulent and it was'nt why do i feel like we are the victim and why do we pay good money out for accidental damage insurance to be told your fraudulent and a lair and they are trying to charge me for canceling the policy
thanks for reading my rant
all the best to those who are having a bad week
