Hi people, glad to see you all posting, i'm trying W/W and aiming to loose about 2lbs per week which is sensible [:p] I'm 5ft 4ins and 12st 10lbs (wow i didn't think i would post that) but hopefully the support between us will help, i'm also aiming to loose weight for my daughters wedding on 8th may 2008 in Abu Dhabi, Emerates (that is where she lives). Any way good luck to everyone and congratulations to those of you who have already lost weight keep up the good work.

I am just going to try cutting out the bad things and replace them with a more healthy alternative and less of it, and a lot more walking. My daughter just did a power walk every night and she really toned up. I am just walking and speeding up for a minute here and there but getting easier even after a few days.

that is the key Ang, to do a bit of exercise - I plan on more walks with my dog as he likes to walk/run for an hour accross the fields everyday
Maybe soon i might have a chance of keeping up with him, or at least where i can still see him[:)]

Well done Pixie, that's great!

Dave and I have just got back from a walk by the river - it was a lovely afternoon here and we were walking for an hour.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Thanks [:)]

It's sheer willpower at the moment! I'm just visualising my hols in august. The hard part is when you've been good all week and the scales tell you otherwise!

Pixie the positive thing is, if you have been eating healthy low fat food all week, your weight may not go down due to any exercise you may have done. The reason for this is muscle weighs more than fat. Therefore measure yourself also, as you may be losing inches although your weight may not of changed.

Try setting mini goals from now until August. This will help you stay positive and acheive your long term main goal.

Your doing so well!!

Best of luck. x

Hi All

First of all a BIG well done to pixie [:D] Stay motivated and it will drop off!!

I went to the hospital yesterday after being refered by the other consultant I am seeing. I saw an endocrynologist about the probable polycystic ovary syndrome the other doctor thought I might have. Anyway not only do I have PCOS but also underactive thyroid (which explains my accute fatigue) and insulin resistance. I am to start on tablets which should get me back to normal, but he has also refered me onto a dietician to see as he said it is imperiative i lose weight or will have all sorts of problems later in life. I think this will be great help and will post any pearls of wisdom she gives to help

Hi Emma the underactive thyroid will cause the weight as well, that is my problem, slow metabolism. Mine was overactive originally with graves disease and i lost about 3 and a half stone. it was lovely, but also dangerous so had to be treated which has left me the other way now and all the weight came back again. I long to feel how I did when I lost the weight, more energy, more confidence, no joint pains, it all went away. That is why I am trying hard now to lose some weight.

Hi Ang

When you had the underactive thyroid did you feel really tired all the time, not just a normal tiredness but a disabiling tiredness?
When I wake up in the morning I feel like I have not even been to bed at all!!!
That is the worst part of this for me, but the doctor really shocked me into action even more as he said if I don't lose the weight i will probably get diabeties (sorry about spelling!!) which really worried me - also I have a higher than normal blood pressure.
Honestly feel like I am falling to bits[:(]

Yes you will feel tired, cold, put weight on,depression, it can affect everything. When I was treated mine dropped so low I could not even think, literally did not want to speak or make any decision. I am on quite a high dose of thyroxine now to keep my levels around normal. It can go undetected as you can just feel ma bit tired.. Most definately I felt like I hadnt been to bed, I had bad nightmares as well. It can take a bit of time for them to get your levels right, so dont expect an immediate response to medication but you will get there. Losing weight will definately help you to feel better.
