Hi Lusso
Apologies for getting back late on this, I was out of the office yesterday. If you could email me your details, I will check out what is happening and get back to you ASAP. My email is listed in my profile under the experts section.
Hi Lusso, I'm sorry to read this after what was a difficult day for you all round, hopefully Declan will get back to you ASAP and a solution will be found, please do stay with us for support and advice as necessary.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
How ridiculous for a creditor to expect you to reduce your rent - which is obviously a fixed cost and seems very cheap to me. I trust that your IP will be on the case with this straight away, and wonder how much notice they had of this request and whether this could have been sorted out prior to the creditors meeting.
I am not sure how much notice they had of the request but Declan has been in touch and said that they have opposed the increase in monthly repayment (taking it from my rent) and that they are confident that they have given enough clarity on why it would be unfair to expect such an increase.
There is no way I can find a flat to live in my area (or anywhere near) for £250 per month!
Apparently they will be voting again tomorrow - although I don't know what time (which doesn't help with my anxiety at all)
Does anyone have any idea of what my chances are - do creditors normally listen to reason or are they more likely to stick to their initial response? Do they all HAVE TO get back to DFD by tomorrow? Would failier to do so mean that they are in agreement?
If the IVA proposal has been properly put together, with full explanations of any unusual expenditure, there is no reason why creditors would want to look for major changes or uplifts in payments. It is very strange that they have picked on the rental figure, especially as I assume your IP has had a copy of your rental agreement and can see how much you are actually paying.
That might be where the problem lies - I have applied for an IVA as I am currently at home, but my parents are relocating, forcing me to either move out and rent or move with them which would mean leaving my very good (and well paid for what I do) job and obviously the job market isn't that bouyant at the moment.
DFD have applied for my IVA based on the cheapest flat price in the local area. (£450 per calendar month)
Seems reasonable to me - I have done this myself on several occasions and never had a problem with creditors accepting my clients offers. Am sure that Declan will sort this out for you.
Not sure what is going on! I emailed Declan again this morning and he said that my meeting looks like it is taking place "this afternoon" but still not heard anything so I have dropped him another quick email to see if he can see what's happening!
Although I want to believe that "no news is good news!" I don't think that is the case! All I want is to see an end of this very dark tunnel - even if it is 5/6 years away!
Oh you poor thing, I feel for you - have everything crossed for you, I keep coming on to the forum to see if you've had any news, big hug - we are all thinking of you.
I certainly agree with Julie that you should perhaps give either Declan or DFD a ring so you can find out what has happened.

Don't panic Lusso - DFD will telephone you shortly after the creditors meeting is over as they did with me last year, and then they will inform you of all you need to know when they make that call - patience!
