Have decided to go with Melanie Giles..the lady I spoke to today explained things very well, was positive whilst still explaining potential pitfalls, and although I'm still scared to death, she did given me confidence and hope.
It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice!
Hi Teeters, I made that call a couple of weeks ago (spoke to Tina) I found the whole thing quite emotional, which really surprised me, but think it was sheer relief at making the first move to sorting things out. It took me a few days to digest it all, but I feel so much better. The phone still rings all day - home and mobile, but I don't speak to anyone right now. The letters are in the post to them explaining my situation and if they choose to keep ringing I'll continue to ignore. I used to dread the phone ringing, but now I'm tackling my debt problems it doesn't bother me. Finding this forum was the best thing and I find out so much on here. Hearing about peoples IVA experiences...all at various stages is great and confirms to me that it's the way forward...if it's accepted of course. It does appear that the vast majority are, so I'm hopeful. So good luck and my fingers are crossed for us both..and anyone else just starting on this path.
Love your name-teetersonheels-wishing you all the best for the journey.
The emotions come through when you feel you are losing control of your finances-your whole life feels affected by it all.
Let Mels team take the strain off your shoulders.
The feeling you get when you get the *yes the proposal has been approved* phone call is unbelievable.
Budgeting can be hard to get your head round for the first couple of months-but for me it is a lesson learned and something I will now do for life.
Even knowing you have a few quid left in your purse at the end of the month is priceless.
Your needs will be covered by the iva and-like us-you may be able to set up a savings account for a rainy day or things like christmas or birthdays.
Last christmas everything was paid for in cash and there were none of the dreaded credit card bills coming through in the New Year.No-one was left out and my son was so happy that his parents were happy!!!
It will all feel so good when you get approved and life settles down into a calmer pace-Mels team seem one of the best in the business-so I dont think you will have any worries on that front.
Good luck.
