I have sent my proposal (court form) and relevant other pages (signed income and expenditure, signed creditors, etc) back to my IP.

She says that she is going to forward it to court and then the creditors and give me a date for a meeting (by the sounds of it, I am expected to attend)

What am I likely to expect now? I wasn't aware I had to attend a meeting, from what I have gathered on here people just wait by the phone - or am I thinking of two completely different stages here?

(I communicate primarily with my IP by e-mail, I find it easier than having to answer phone calls at work)

It is not really normal to attend. Are you sure they did not say to make sure you are avaliable, if they did I think they meant avaliable by the phone if you are needed regarding any changes creditors may want.
Just ring them and check.

Thanks Ang

I have e-mailed my IP back, and apparantly they like to just meet over a cup of tea (ugh) or coffee (mmmmmmm) if it's possible, just to go through the modifications face-to-face.

My IP is superb, within 15 minutes of sending her the question I had an answer back!

That's a weight off my mind, I had visions of the MD's from the creditors making me squirm in my chair extracting every last drop of blood out of me!! Wasn't a nice thought!! [:)]

Hi cr15py,

Im so glad that you have a good relationship with your I.P, nowadays the creditors meetings are all usually done by post, email or telephone.

You would be suprised how many people actually think that its a meeting to attend as its called a creditors meeting, I think if people had to attend and face creditors we would see alot more bankruptcies going through [:D]

Andy

I hope the odds weren't too high for my sake, because you just won!! I am with a relatively small practice. Absolutely everything my IP has done so far has been way higher than anything I expected!!

I went in with the impression that the profession was a bit stuffy, and I would be looked down at (a pretty common perception I would imagine!) and I have been really pleasantly surprised by the friendly attitude of my IP. [:)]

Hi
Well it just goes to show that service and large IVA providers don't seem to go hand in hand whereas the smaller practices shine through on service.
I think that once your IVA is approved you are in for a smooth ride with your IP.
It is good to read of a good IP service because many posts are about being unable to contact an IP or not having calls returned[even on the day of the creditors meeting]
For those looking for an IP don't be caught out with the glossy advertising and false promises,do your homework and speak to several IVA providers

IPs being stuffy! Far from it! And glad that you found a good one who you are happy with in these days of allegations of mis-selling, lack of communication and poor advice.

I know that now Melanie!! It's just a preconception that people have. I work in an accountants, the ones I used to work in were old stuffy grey-suits from the 1980's, and stuffy as a Christmas turkey!! I now work in a much more relaxed office, where I don't even need to wear a tie. I notice Andy doesn't even wear a tie in his photo!! [:D]

I generally agree with you about accountants Melanie, but not the firm I work for!!! We are very modern accountants, and our ethos works really well for a lot of people - they prefer the less formal approach!!

And no comment re: Andy!! teehee!!
