Normal to drag near the end?

This is a question to others nearing or in the final year (maybe those who have already finished?). Am I alone in feeling like this is the longest year of them all?

I think that until now I just had my head down, all the time thinking that the end is a long way off whereas now I am waiting for something to trip me up! (Unforeseen car repair or other financial complication)

Opinions / experiences please.

I am finding that time is really dragging now.

We really stopped thinking about things from 6 months left to go,as the previous 4 months were like walking through custard.

Head down and plod on,its the only way to go.

During the summer i felt the iva process was dragging, seems to be going on forever, but now into the last few weeks, 1 payment sat in the bank account and the last one will be there in 19 days, then 11 days later its paid to my IP, it feels very quick!!

The current climate isn't helping, january was a tough month im just looking forward to having a little bit of cash each month to get through and saving some!

We still havent got that spare cash as we have so many things that need repaired(plus 2 lots of road tax,and a car thats going to garage on thursday to repair a loud squeak off the rear brakes discs). I think it will be 6 months at least before we are any better off!!! At least things will be fixed though.

And any overtime is ours to spend.

The budget still stays in place,in fact it has been tweaked to be a little tighter to try and put money out the way.

I know the feeling of things that need fixing replacing, car service needs doing, i need clothes quite badly! living out of my work uniform and a couple of bits for my day off not good!

On the plus side i can budget and sticking to it, i should have a good savings pot after 12 months, newer car time then!

The wife is desperate to go on a clothes shopping spree but where it used to be £200 on the credit card for 2 pairs of trousers and a blouse or 3,its now £30 in cash for a whole outfit!!!

And she looks just as good as she did in all those expensive outfits!!

I try to remiond myself how many more months i would have to repay the £25k consolidaiton loan i originally went for before being advised brilliantly on the IVA route. I calculated at zero percent interest it would have been 52 months. of course with the obvious interest rates i'd be looking at double that. all the while paying back almost £500 per month. I'd have gone under for sure.

I find that though PD, I have changed spending habits for clothes and other things and don't feel I'm hard done by now....although it did take a few months, well maybe a year or two to get used to. 11 months to go now and I just keep thinking this time next year......

Most of my clothes are either basics from the supermarkets or from Ebay.

Does anyone else think the supermarkets are getting better clothes wise,or is it just because we cannot afford to go elsewhere that we are settling for 2nd best???

I find speaking as a woman, to get the clothes from supermarkets and dress them up with nice accessories often helps. Luckily accessories are sizeless so can nick those bits or borrow from daughter. x
