This is a first as although I have made nearly 5,000 forum responses, I have never initiated one - will probably go horribly wrong!

This is really a message for Andy or Admin to deal with. I received a call from a Northern Rock representative this morning to advise me that they regularly review the forum and have picked up on a post from a customer who had been advised that her mortgage payments were incorrectly being set off against an unsecured loan which was included in her IVA, with the suggestion that her mortage was actually going into arrears as a result.

I can remember this post about a week or so ago, but cannot find it. Northern Rock wish to make it clear that this is certainly not their policy, and that this must have arisen as a result of an internal administration error - possibly as a result of the IVA only recently being accepted. They sincerely wish for this poster to contact them so that this can be explained directly, but I obviously have no knowledge of this person's identity. Andy can you help repatriate lender to customer please, so that this can be sorted out.

E-mail me directly if you need specific details of the person who spoke to me, but I wanted to share this with other forum members to set the matter straight.

yea, its a bit scary, being "spied on"! haha

I suppose this forum will give them an idea of what people are going through and what they are trying to do to put things right!

Does anybody know of other creditors who look on here???

I hope that they have picked up on some of my comments recently!!

Andy, don't hold your breath, but at least NR will know that their current policies cause severe difficulties to real people and that there have been a good number of people who have been driven in to bankruptcy, as a result.

Outcome for NR ........... 0p/£.

Hi
I think that we should all take it as a compliment that NR and other creditors read this forum.
We never discuss dishonest acts on this forum,we do not encourage people to shrug off on their responsibilities. All we want to do is to fully understand what is involved in an IVA and how to approach it.We also want a fair and reasonable approach by creditors when responding to our IVA proposal.

Hi all,

Yes it was me that posted! What actually happened was the unsecured element was not paid for a few months prior to hubby going BR, the payment that was made was to be made off the secured amount only yet every time we spoke to NR they said that due to it all being done electronically this cant happen and all monies maid would be split between the 2 automatically, leaving us with actual mortgage arrears.

I think the problem is because we are speaking to customer service advisors who dont have a great deal of experience in BR and IVA's (which is to be completely expected in their defence) we are being advised on what generally happens under normal circumstances.

Anyway, we have spoke again with the BR team at NR since my last post and they have advised us to basically leave things with them and they will rectify everything leaving us up to date with no mortgage arrears. They did prove to be very helpful and explained the situation in full once we spoke to a team specialising in the area.

Thank you to Melanie and Andy for getting this message to me and thanks to Northern Rock who have now sorted things out for us!

Andrea
