Hi

Just made our 6th payment into iva today. That's half a year, only 11 more of them left to go.
Can't believe we're 6 months in though, it has gone quite quickly and for anyone about to start this, it does 'do what it says on the tin'.
To be honest, it hasn't been easy, I particularly have found it hard to come to terms with and we've had some unusual bits to deal with along the way, appliances breaking down, telly dying on us, brothers wedding, son resitting exams (I can't believe it costs so much!!!), vets bills when we lost our dog and on and on and on!
But, so far so good (ish), we've scraped by and not done too badly so far.
When we first really realised we had a problem and saw all the ads for iva's on telly, it all seemed so easy - 'we'll write off 75% of your debt and you'll be debt free in 5 years' - makes it sound like such a simple solution when actually it's really tough, and the stress of getting the proposal through is difficult on it's own. having a good ip helps enormously though, knowing there's someone at the end of a phone/email whenever you need it, who knows their stuff, makes such a difference.
On the upside, we get no phone calls, and most days, no post at all, I'm sure the postie doesn't know he's born now!
So, if you are starting this, have faith in your ip, be aware it will be a complete change of life, and attitude, which takes a lot of getting used to, but I do believe that it will be worth it in the long run.

Hi Pap - those 6 months have flown by [:0] Its so nice to read updates on how posters are progressing. I guess we only really post when we want advice, which is fine, but its also nice to hear the upside.

xx

Pap, thats a lovely post and im sure it will be a real inspiration for anybody just starting out.
It's not meant to be an easy escape but it can be manageable providing the repayments arent too exessive from the start.
You are living proof of that.

Keep up the good work and may the rest of your journey go just as fast [:D] xxxxxxxx

Hi Pap, a good post that will help others I'm sure. I agree it's not easy and things certainly do try us in an IVA but I'm plodding on and am determined ot see this through. I've never felt less stressed being in an IVA as pre IVA I was fed up with each month juggling figures.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
